Super Human explores the limits for the capacities of the human body in a unique and thought provoking performance that redefines the human being in new optimised versions.

The occasional burst of athletic breakdance windmills wows the crowd, and slick popping and impressive acrobatics are spliced with street and contemporary dance. "Et bart gulv, tunge technorytmer med stratosfærisk knitren og sitren, det hvide bagtæppe skiftevis oplyst af fluorescerende grønt og lilla. Det er rammen om den tempofyldte danseforestilling Super Human udført af dansekompagniet Next Zone. Seks unge mænd mimer teknologi, det binære talsystem, en hektisk digital hverdag iført sorte træningsbukser, sneakers og bar overkrop. Måske befinder vi os inde i en computer, ude i atmosfæren eller i en elektronisk fremtid. Danserne udstråler energi og styrke, og de viser utrolig kontrol og koordination i deres hiphop-inspirerede bevægelser. Det er dynamisk og kraftfuldt, men også humoristisk og poetisk, som da en sort og en hvid danser laver en dobbeltdans med de lange arme i fantastiske fælles formationer. Supernatural and Superhuman behaviour are the main focus of the performance that gathers inspiration from varied aspects of transhumanism, science fiction movies, superheroes and real-life experiments which combine hard technology and soft biology.

It has already become the everyday to enhance human characteristics artificially and modern science has brought closer the dream of the perfect human being. But what happens to humanity in the future if all humans are optimized with new skills that reaches beyond our current mental and physical capacities?

The distinctive choreographic language within the performance builds on explorations of mental states, translated into extreme physical movements in a fusion of urban dance, new composed music and scenographic light.

Created in co-production with Teater Momentum and through residencies at Centre National de la Danse de Lyon, Théâtre de Suresnes Jean Vilar, Pôle en Scènes/Centre chorégraphique Pôle Pik/ Compagnie Käfig.
